FINALLY!!

She's here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Don't be fooled by the blue blankets...she's all girl). :)

Well, actually she's been here since 8:20 this morning. :)

Just finally got around to posting about it on here.

I've made a habit of not announcing names on my blog, so if you aren't family or friend, I'm sorry you won't have her name. Her initials are C.D. however, so you can make up your own name for her. :)

But she's beautiful; all 9 lbs 9 oz of her. :) Much smaller than the previous 11.5 lb baby I had. She actually doesn't even look 9 lbs. I don't know where she's hiding it. :)

21.5 inches long and some dark hair, mostly on the back of the head.

Such a blessing, our beautiful little girl.

skydiving?!

Our oldest son turned 11 on the 19th. I didn't get a chance to post about it until now.

He had a yummy chocolate cake that his older sister decorated with an assortment of Hershey's Kisses and Hugs. It was very good.

He then went skydiving.

Yep - skydiving.

But...

...it was indoors.

He had a lot of fun.

He also got Hardy Boys books as gifts. He really likes them.

We are very blessed to have him in our family and as our first son.

another cloth diaper giveaway that I've entered

So pretty much all that consumes my thoughts right now is this baby (that is stubbornly waiting until he/she is good and ready to come).

Meanwhile, I'm trying to get some things ready. Since I use cloth diapers, I'm entering giveaways almost every time I find one.

Some of them offer more entries if you blog about them, and that is what I'm doing here.

This giveaway

SoftBums Echo Review and #Giveaway! US only! 3/13

is going on over at GreeN MaM-a JaM-a.

If you are into cloth diaper giveaways, get over there and enter real soon.

With as many giveaways as I've entered, I just hope I win something!

Until next time...

no baby yet

Still no sign of this baby coming.

My due date was the 10th regardless of what the counter on the side says.

No labor.

Maybe I need to go jogging? :P

what I've been doing while waiting for the baby

In trying to distract myself from this never-ending pregnancy, I've been doing some sewing lately. Here's a recent project.

M.D.'s new skirt. It looks like culottes in the picture, but it's not. It was done from this pattern; Simplicity New Look #6944. You can get it at Wal-Mart and probably Joann, and this site has it also.

It's a cute skirt, not too difficult to make, and she likes the full style. I also plan to make one for D.R. (second daughter), but hers will be in yellow. I don't know if I'll get it done before the baby comes, but I will get to it sometime. :)

I've also sewn up a couple of skirts each for the two younger girls; one set in pink, one set in blue. I may upload some pictures of those on here sometime. And some jumpers that I'm thinking of selling on etsy or somewhere. It was some I had cut out a couple of years ago and so now they don't fit anyone. I've been able to do 3 so far and still have about 5 cut out ready to stitch together.

I really dislike the cutting out part of sewing, so I usually do a lot all at once, but then sometimes I don't get around to the actually sewing part. Oh well, at least now I have some sewing to do...the fun part. :)

cloth diaper giveaway at So Easy Being Green

Baby time is getting closer.

I've started looking at more cloth diapers. And today I found a fantastic giveaway over at So Easy Being Green.

There are a few giveaways going on over there, but this one is the Grand Prize Giveaway. Instead of just one or two diapers, there are 3 diapers, a wrap, and some wipes. Grand Prize, indeed!!

I'm entering in the hopes that I win. And yes, I do get extra entries for blogging about it. But this also gives you a chance too.

haircut pic

To understand the difference, you need to know my hair was all one length and hung down to my rear end. I have really thick hair and the weight was pulling out the natural curl. So I got 10 inches cut off the bottom, then had it layered. Now the curl stays in and it's so much easier to manage. I wash it, mousse it, and let it air dry. Sometimes I pull it up with clips to help the curl stay in longer, then let it down when it's dried a little. With a new baby on the way I needed hair that was much more manageable.

On a side note, this pic was taken by my 6 year old daughter. Pretty good huh?

Chocolate for the Soul and other things

I've really got to get some new posts up here.

Started a new blog in addition to this one.
http://chocolateysoul.blogspot.com/

Got a new haircut.

Had a great Christmas. Went to visit my brother for Christmas and while there we went to the Creation Museum. They had spectacular lights in the garden. It's free to the public and there were tons of people there.

It's getting closer and closer to the new baby's arrival.

All the children are doing great and growing so much. (More on them later).

We've had several birthdays in the last few months.

I'll continue at a later date...gotta get busy.

Until next time...

fall fun

What you need:

mini pumpkins or gourds,

some glue

(I used this because it has a brush in it, which makes it easy to apply; plus it's clear),

some fun glitter colors,

and helping hands.

And you'll have:
the finished product;

lovely fall decor!

the big 3

And another birthday rolls around here in our house.

We turned these mini cakes into trains.

The different colors we needed.

Assembling Thomas the Tank Engine was the oldest's job.

The boys got in on the act too.

Finished results.

The birthday boy was delighted. Of course he is too busy enjoying the leftover frosting to smile for the camera.

One of the girls found a new application on my camera. I confess, I'm not too into electonics. I can use the basics, but that's about it.

And the best part...the presents.

He had a good birthday (it was yesterday btw), and is enjoying being a 3 year old now.

tamale soup

So I got this recipe from my mom and tried it. I had actually had it at her house when she made it, but I wanted to see if I could make it as good. Yep. It's super easy and very yummy. Sorry I don't have a picture. It was gone before I even thought of snapping a shot. Try it and enjoy. :)

Tamale Soup

1 1/2 lb ground beef
1/2 onion, chopped
1/2 green bell pepper, chopped
a bit of olive oil
2 tbsp cumin

Brown the beef, onion, and pepper in the olive oil. Add the cumin.

In a pot combine the following: (DO NOT DRAIN! The liquids from the cans become the soup liquid.)
1 can creamed corn
1 can whole corn
1 can Ro-tel
2 cans diced tomatoes
3 cans Ranch style beans
2 cups beef broth (I just used a 14 oz can)

Add the beef mix to the soup. Simmer for about 20 minutes.

Then add 3 cans of tamales, cup up in bite size pieces and the juice. Heat just until the tamales are warmed up. Serve over Fritos corn chips. Dee-lish!!

update and a chunky boy

You all probably thought I'd disappeared off the face of the earth. Nope. Still here. Just super busy and don't have internet at home...yet.

We have a great place. It's out in the country, but close to town. The kids have the country life, but we can run in to town to get milk in just 5 minutes.

Here's an update on the latest member of the family. He's still as chunky as ever. Don't worry, I took the pencil away from him as soon as the picture was taken. See those thighs?! So chubby!

He's all boy...already wanting to play with cars. I kid you not, this was not a fixed picture. He was playing with it before he fell asleep.

Well, hopefully, I can update a little more often.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I'm still accessing the internet from the library, so even though we celebrated St. Patrick's Day, I don't have any pictures to put on here.

We all wore green.

I reminded the children of the history of St. Patrick.

We had shepherd's pie for lunch.

We made shamrocks and wrote blessings on them.

And for you:

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and the rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!!!
