2010 - a trusting year

Sorry, I don't have any pictures, just words.

This year was pretty big for us.

We've been in TN for 12 (almost 13) years around the Knoxville area. Around March/April we were told by our landlord that we needed to find another place by November. We had just found out we were expecting our 10th baby in November. It was a little disconcerting, but we adjusted and began looking and asking around if anyone knew of a place we could move.

Oddly enough the only place that opened up was in NM. Yep, that's right - Southeast United States New Mexico. Now being from Texas, myself, I wasn't at all displeased. So we packed it up and moved.

All the way to NM...in August. Actually, it wasn't that bad. The weather is much drier out there compared to the humidity of TN. It felt about 10 degrees cooler! The drive was interesting and the scenery...well...you just have to experience it. We fell in love with it. Honestly, we would go back in a heartbeat if the job market was better out there.

That was the thing. Once we got out there the job market wasn't what we thought it was going to be. (Plus, we didn't have a midwife lined up; I try to not do hospitals if I can manage it).

So, as it got closer to the time to have the baby, we began thinking more and more about coming back east. The job my husband found ended in the end of September and we headed back October 1st. A friend offered to let us stay with him in Northwest Georgia until we could find a place. We actually stayed there until right before Thanksgiving when we came back up to East TN and stayed with my mom. It was much closer to my previous midwife (whom we love!) and a little more relaxing.

And here we are. The baby's birth went fine; everything turned out all right in the end. The kids loved the New Mexico experience (especially White Sands!), and they also love being back here near friends.

So while it's been a very eventful year (sometime notice just how big Texas is for driving across the widest part...fun...or not), it's also been a year of growing and learning.

We are learning to trust God and looking for what He has us to learn. We know He had us go to NM, but we are just as sure He brought us back to TN. Why? We don't know. We just have to trust and follow Him.

Happy New Year everyone!! I hope 2011 is a blessed year for you all.

Until next time...

Jen, I've been out of blogland for a few months and have decided to try to pop back into it. Wow, that's quite some moving around for you...glad to hear it all went smoothly with baby #10 and that you are back "home". I didn't know you were a Texas gal, me too!!! :)

Blessings to you and your family and Happy New Year!

You know I have spent a lot of time this last week thinking HOW CAN SO MUCH HAPPEN AND CHANGE IN JUST ONE YEAR???? I am betting you all are thinking along the same lines. ☺

I think we all have those crazy times in our lives when things just don't seem to make a whole lot of sense... guess that's why it's so wonderful to trust that the Lord has a plan, even when we can't seem to figure out what's going on just yet. *hugs* I'm glad that in the end, you had a safe delivery and a successful VBAC with your little man. :o)
